When God Comes After You
Have you ever experienced how God comforts you, comes after you, and affirms and reaffirms His presence—just when you need it most?
I can’t seem to stop writing about these moments, even when I barely find the time to sit down and breathe. I’m actually typing this while cooking food for my kids—not because I want to brag about what God is doing in my life, but because I simply want to shout out to God for His unconditional love.
A love that pursues me.
A love that meets me day after day, night after night.
A love that knows I need Him—and sometimes knows that I need to hear from Him not once, but again and again.
And He never seems to fail to remind me that He is there.
As the schools begin and the pressures of managing life, work, and children increase, there are so many moving parts. The workplace brings its own ever-changing scenarios—sometimes pleasant surprises, sometimes unexpected shocks. There are days when the future feels uncertain, when you don’t know what is coming next.
And in those moments, you find yourself asking: “God, what do I do? How am I going to manage all of this?”
This morning, I woke up around 4 a.m. with all these thoughts running through my mind. And my prayer was simple: “God, what do I do? How do I manage all of this?” And His answer came through Matthew 6:25–34. Jesus reminds us: “Look at the birds of the air… your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”— Matthew 6:26
And then: “See how the flowers of the field grow… If that is how God clothes the grass of the field… will he not much more clothe you?” — Matthew 6:28–30
And finally: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.” — Matthew 6:34
What struck me was that Jesus did not promise that tomorrow would have no problems. He didn’t say there would be no challenges. He said: “Do not worry about tomorrow.”
In other words, you don’t have to carry tomorrow today. God was reminding me: I am sufficient for you.
At that moment, something shifted inside me. I felt peace. And almost as if God was walking me through my own history with Him, He began reminding me of everything He had already done. He reminded me of the words of Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”— Psalm 23:4
Not because I am capable.
Not because I have everything figured out.
Not because I know what tomorrow holds.
But because the One who holds tomorrow holds me.
And then: “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life.”
— Psalm 23:6
His goodness doesn’t merely wait for me at the destination.
It follows me.
His mercy pursues me.
His presence goes with me.
That was early this morning… Then the day began. The kids went to school for their first day. Work began. Challenges appeared. New situations unfolded. And once again, I found myself thinking. God knew I needed another reminder. Another affirmation. Another whisper that said, “I am still here.”
And later that day, He sent His chosen one—the very person through whom He had brought me those visions before—to remind me again of what He was asking me to hold on to.
It felt like God was reaffirming what He had already spoken to my heart earlier that morning: even though the road may feel difficult, I am called to keep walking, to remain steadfast, and to depend on the One who called me. Isaiah says: “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.”— Isaiah 43:2
Notice the promise. He doesn’t say you won’t pass through the waters.
He says: “When you pass through…”
The storm is not evidence that God has abandoned you.
The difficult road is not evidence that you are walking in the wrong direction.
Sometimes faith is simply continuing to walk, holding on to the One who called you.
And what moved me most was this: God had already spoken to me in the quietness of the early morning, and later in the day, He used His chosen messenger to reaffirm it. It felt like He was saying: “I know you need to hear this again. I am still with you. Keep walking. Keep trusting Me.” There are moments when our steps feel heavier. Moments when we are tempted to hold on tightly to things that were never meant to be permanent. Moments when the desert seems endless and we desperately want something familiar to hold on to.
But God calls us to keep walking.
To remain steadfast.
To depend not on what is temporary, but on the One who is eternal.
Because the storm is not my destiny.
The desert is not my destination.
There is an Oasis.
There are green pastures.
There are still waters.
And ultimately, there at the feet of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Perhaps that is what God has been reminding me today:
You don’t need to know everything.
You don’t need to control everything.
You don’t need to carry everything.
You just need Him.
And perhaps that is why He keeps coming after me. Again and again. Not because I am strong enough. But because He knows exactly how much I need Him.
This is simply a shout-out to God.
For His unconditional love.
For His mercy that follows me.
For His faithfulness that never lets go.
For the way He speaks when I need to hear Him.
For the way He reminds me of what He has already done when I forget.
And today, my prayer is simply: “Lord, You are all I want. You are all I need. You are more than sufficient for me.”
So, Lord, I will keep walking. I will keep trusting. I will keep looking to You. And when I forget, remind me again. And when I become anxious, remind me again. And when the road becomes difficult, remind me again.
Because I know now: You will come after me. You will pursue me with Your goodness and mercy. And You will never stop reminding me that I am Yours.
I love You, Lord. You are all I want. You are all I need. You are sufficient for me.
Amen.
