Week 11 Recap – Numbers Chapters 16–36..
In Week 11 we continued our journey through the wilderness in the Book of Numbers chapters 16–36. These chapters revealed both the brokenness of the human heart and the unwavering faithfulness of God.
We saw moments of serious rebellion, such as Korah’s challenge to God’s appointed leadership, reminding us that pride and self-exaltation can lead people away from God’s order. We also witnessed the consequences of unbelief when even Moses and Aaron faltered at the waters of Meribah. Yet in the midst of failure, God continued to guide His people with patience and mercy.
These chapters also revealed powerful glimpses of God’s grace. The story of Balaam showed that no curse can stand against the people whom God has chosen to bless. The bronze serpent lifted in the wilderness pointed forward to the healing and salvation that would one day come through Christ. As the book closes, Israel stands on the plains of Moab, looking toward the Promised Land, with God establishing laws, boundaries, and structures to prepare them for life in the land He promised.
Week 11 ultimately reminds us that God remains faithful to His covenant even when His people struggle to remain faithful to Him.
Week 12 Introduction – Deuteronomy 1–16..
As we move into Week 12, we begin a new and deeply reflective book: the Book of Deuteronomy, covering chapters 1–16.
If Numbers tells the story of Israel’s wilderness journey, Deuteronomy is Moses’ final message to the new generation preparing to enter the Promised Land. Standing at the edge of the land, Moses looks back over the past forty years and reminds the people of everything God has done—His deliverance, His provision, His discipline, and His faithfulness.
In these opening chapters, Moses calls the people to remember their history, renew their commitment to God, and learn what it means to love and obey the Lord wholeheartedly. We will encounter powerful passages that reveal God’s heart for His people, including the call to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and strength, and the reminder that obedience flows from relationship with Him.
Week 12 will help us see that faith is not only about where God is taking us, but also about remembering what He has already done. As Israel prepares to enter the land, Moses reminds them that the greatest challenge will not be conquering the land—but remaining faithful to God once they receive His blessings.
As we step into Deuteronomy, we are invited to reflect on our own journey with God and to renew our commitment to walk with Him in faith, gratitude, and obedience.
